Jesuit Rummel rematch highlights 2nd round of playoffs

Top-seeded Rummel (9-1) will play host to 8th seed Jesuit (5-6) Friday at Joe Yenni Stadium as the Catholic League headliner for the second round of the Division I State Playoffs. The Raiders defeated the Blue Jays 28-14 on October 17th when the two met in the regular season. Rummel had a first-round bye while Jesuit knocked off Shaw 35-21 in the opening round. Jones Era underway at St. Augustine

So far, so good.  That's the feeling for St. Augustine football after wrapping up spirng practice under first year head coach Al Jones. With his son and former Purple Knight Al Jones, Jr. by his side as his defensive coordinator, Jones led St. Aug through a spirited intrasquad spring game Friday night at Tad Gormely Stadium. Brother Martin and Klein win 4th straight state titles

For a fourth straight year, Brother Martin won the Division I state championship while Crusaders wrestler Paul Klein (132) won an individual state title for a fourth straight, the first Louisiana modern era Division I wrestler to accomplish the feat. Yehia Riles (182) and Steven Shields (113) also repeated as state champs for the Crusaders who totaled 310 team points followed by second place Jesuit 270.5 and Holy Cross who finished in the third with 269.5. So far so good for Brother Martin in its quest for a fourth straight team title, and for Crusaders 132 pound wrestler Paul Klein who is looking to make history this weekend at the LHSAA wrestling state championships. When Paul Klein was 12 years old he made a revelation, followed quickly with a proclamation. They will leave as the most decorated class in Rummel history, and four of those seniors will continue their playing careers in college.
