Brother Martin sent a message on its opening drive of the game against St. Stanislaus on Friday night at Tad Gormley Stadium.

The Crusaders (2-0) needed only four plays to march 85 yards on a touchdown, capping the drive on a 45-yard touchdown pass from John Paul Pierce to Erick Lassair.

From that point, Bruce Jordan-Swilling and the Brother Martin defense took over and the Crusaders crushed St. Stanislaus 42-7.

Jordan-Swilling, playing only the first half, rushed for 170 yards and three touchdowns.

Meanwhile, the Crusaders’ defense clamped down on the St. Stanislaus offense and quarterback Myles Brennan, a LSU commitment.

Brennan ended up throwing for more than 200 yards in the game but the Brother Martin defense allowed the Rock-a-Chaws (3-1) to reach the end zone only once in the contest.

Following the Crusaders’ opening touchdown, Jordan-Swilling scored on runs of 22, 69 and 15 yards to help stake Brother Martin to a 28-7 halftime lead.

St. Stanislaus’ only score came on a touchdown pass from Brennan to Chase Rogers.

Brother Martin added two touchdowns in the second half on a 42-yard pass from Pierce to Pattre’en Hughes and a 7-yard run by Chris Smith.
