Not even the coldest winter New Orleans has experienced in recent memory can slow Johnny Giavotella down. As the Jesuit grad prepares for his fourth season in the majors, the Kansas City Royals second baseman grinds daily to earn a spot on the Royals roster.
Come along for an all-access pass as Giavotella goes through an extensive cardio workout with trainer Duke Rousse on a chilly morning at Muss Bertolino Stadium in Kenner, then tag along as he goes through a baseball workout at UNO’s Maestri Field in the afternoon.
Giavotella talks about his days at Jesuit, UNO, and some candid thoughts on his current situation with the Royals who signed free-agent second baseman Omar Infante to a four-year contract in December.
