Although seven of the schools in the 13-team Division I playoffs are from District 9-5A, there will be only one Catholic League rematch in the open round.

Jesuit, as the No. 9 seed, will be at No. 8 Rummel on Friday to start the playoffs. The Raiders edged Jesuit 17-10 in Week 7 of the regular season.

The winner of the Jesuit-Rummel game advances to face top-seeded John Curtis, which received an opening-round bye. The unbeaten Patriots topped Jesuit 14-7 in Week 6 of the regular season and defeated Rummel 31-17 in Week 9.

In another opening-round game involving a Catholic League team, Holy Cross travels to Shreveport to take on Evangel Christian. The Tigers are the No. 12 seed while Evangel is the No. 5 seed.

Also in the same portion of the bracket as Curtis, Jesuit, Rummel and Holy Cross, Shaw visits St. Paul’s of Covington. The Eagles are the No. 13 seed and St. Paul’s is the No. 4 seed.

The winner of the Holy Cross-Evangel game and the St. Paul’s-Shaw contest would square off in the quarterfinals.

In the opposite portion of the Division I bracket, No. 6 Brother Martin will play host to McKinley, the No. 11 seed.

The winner of the Brother Martin-McKinley game advances to take on No. 3 seed Catholic High of Baton Rouge, which received an opening-round bye.

St. Augustine, the No. 7 seed, will host Byrd, the No. 10 seed.

The winner of the St. Aug-Byrd game advances to take on No. 2 seed Scotlandville, which also received an opening-round bye.
