Shaw quarterback Pete Taylor fired three touchdown passes as the Eagles won their first game of the season with a 20-7 non-district victory Friday over Belle Chasse.

Pete Taylor tossed three touchdown passes to lead Archbishop Shaw to a 20-7 non-district win Friday at Belle Chasse.

The first win of the season improved Shaw to 1-6 while Belle Chasse fell to 2-5.

Taylor’s first touchdown pass, a 25-yard strike to Ta’hji Thomas gave the Eagles a 7-0 lead late in the first quarter.

A second touchdown pass by Taylor early in the second quarter extended Shaw’s lead to 13-0.

Belle Chasse was driving for a potential score right before halftime before the Eagles came up with an interception at the Shaw 7-yard line to end the threat.

Taylor’s final touchdown in the third quarter extended Shaw’s lead to 20-0.

An interception of a Taylor pass by Belle Chasse gave the Cardinals the ball at the Shaw 24-yard line late in the third quarter.

Belle Chasse avoided the shutout on a 3-yard run by Marcian  Marshall’s 3-yard run late in the third quarter for the 20-7 final.
