Brother Martin head football coach Mark Bonis undergoes successful surgery

Brother Martin coach Mark Bonis underwent successful surgery Tuesday night into Wednesday morning to address an abdominal aortic aneurysm.

It was a scary time for the Bonis family Tuesday evening as Brother Martin head football coach Mark Bonis was rushed to Slidell Memorial Hospital after doctors discovered an abdominal aortic aneurysm.

A post from the Bonis family page “Mighty Marc” just after 5 p.m. alerting the public to the situation beget an outpouring of support from the community, and an update at 5:45 a.m. on Wednesday declared Bonis “out of the woods” as his coronary artery bypass was deemed successful.

Bonis had not waken up yet according to another updated post at 7:11 a.m., which also indicated the 40-year old veteran coach could be hospitalized for weeks.
