Last Wednesday, the day before John Curtis left for Sulphur to play in the Division I State Softball Tournament, coach Jerry Godfrey was asked to describe his team.
“They don't know anything about pressure, they just go out and play. If we get in a situation in Sulphur where we need a run or two in the late innings, we like our chances,” said Godfrey.
Trailing Dominican 5-1 in the 5th inning of the Division I State Championship game, they actually needed four just to tie. They got six and won 7-5.
Senior catcher Alyssa Dean started the rally in the six-run fifth inning with a two-run single. Dean was named the game's Most Outstanding Player.
